The news of the bodies of 215 children found near the Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia and the 751 unmarked graves at the Marieval Indian Residential School rightly caused outrage, anger and dismay. The discovery was a reminder of the “dark and shameful chapter of our country’s history” the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, tweeted (5/28/21). Such news highlighted the atrocities committed upon the children forced into residential schools and upon their families.
