In the spirit of wellbeing everywhere, we are using technology to facilitate access to a wide variety of highly engaging mental health and wellbeing services aligned with the SC2.0 model and within a continuum of care. PeerOnCall is a mobile health platform designed for workforce peer support, built with input from public safety and healthcare communities.

As a customizable solution, PeerOnCall serves as a portal that can include articles, resources and information relevant to your workplace or organization, connections to local peer support teams, an admin dashboard and analytics, and the ability to send notifications to employees, service providers and care seekers using the apps.

Features of the apps:

    • Detailed profiles to help quickly match care seekers with peer supporters best suited to their needs (ex: similar job areas, experiences, gender, languages spoken, etc.)
    • Personal wellness log
    • Anonymous calling and messaging with trained peer support providers
    • Relevant articles, videos and resources for your workforce on topics including trauma, burnout, dealing with a bad call, moral injury, improving sleep, knowing when to reach out, and more

PeerOnCall is a white label platform, meaning it can be designed with your organization branding. It includes two mobile apps:

    • The PeerOnCall app promotes early intervention, mental health support, and psychological health and wellness in public safety workplaces.

    • PeerOnCall Support is a companion app for peer supporters to connect with PeerOnCall users reaching out for by text and phone.

Launched in 2023 PeerOnCall has already been available to more than 12,000 employees at 43 organizations across Canada, with thousands of downloads and hundreds of peer connections.

PeerOnCall was developed by researchers at McMaster University, supported by the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT), in consultation with public safety stakeholders across Canada. Stepped Care Solutions now operates and delivers these apps.

Research funding to develop PeerOnCall was made possible with thanks to Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Movember, and Public Health Agency of Canada.
