Consultation and Implementation

We provide support in implementing system transformation, to build mental health and substance use health care systems that are efficient and person-centric across the continuum of care. Guided by our evidence-based Stepped Care 2.0 framework, our expert team will support you in understanding, planning, and achieving change that is impactful and sustainable. This process will be tailored to your local culture, history, resources, and needs. For guidance, we also provide useful resources and tools with our practice-informed recommendations.

Facilitation is rooted in co-design principles that includes training for people with lived experience to co-facilitate engagement sessions and training for implementation sites on using a co-design approach.

Our services are based on implementation science and can include consultation in the following areas:

  • Change management
  • Co-design consultation – Supporting implementation sites in understanding how to embed co-design throughout their approach, including strengths-based engagement, core components, and a co-design approach to service delivery
    • Creating diverse co-design teams
    • Creating roadmaps for implementation that include co-design and engagement
    • Support the co-design of the visual depiction of the SC2.0 model
    • Understanding and addressing power dynamics and power-sharing
    • Meaningfully and equitably engaging people with lived experience in an ongoing basis
    • Co-develop engagement sessions that meet a variety of needs, unique to each context, such as:
      • Developing a shared understanding of the guiding principles to support providers with SC2.0 implementation in their various contexts and settings
      • Engaging a wide range of perspectives to determine next steps in systems planning
      • And more!
  • Quality improvement
  • Communication, Engagement, and Knowledge Exchange
    • Co-designing a communications and engagement plan to support knowledge translation and implementation
    • Creating effective knowledge translation plans

Workshops

When you work with us to implement system transformation, your teams are offered interactive and engaging workshops with our experts and facilitators. Workshops focus on achieving an output that can be applied directly to your workplace. Our workshops are flexible and include various options for engagement and co-design.

  • Engagement Support for System Design – A full-service engagement process that supports building an understanding of the current mental health and substance use health system by engaging diverse perspectives in discussion to uncover strengths, challenges, barriers, and opportunities. Built on co-design principles, this approach is a great place to start systems change and SC2.0 implementation. These engagement sessions lead to a report filled with validated input and feedback from diverse perspectives as well as a 9-step SC2.0 Planning Framework populated with go-to services and resources.
  • The Populating the Model Series includes options for engagement and co-design through sessions that aim to understand the current mental health, addiction and substance use health system. These sessions also include discussion about barriers to access, challenges, strengths and opportunities, as well as activities that support mapping services and resources across the SC2.0 9-step framework. As an option, hours can also be used to build capacity around co-design to support your team in using this inclusive approach to plan engagement sessions. Includes the following workshops:
    • Community Engagement Sessions (in person or virtual)
    • Exploring the Current State (in person or virtual)
    • Populating the Model (in-person or virtual)
