About Us
We are a global team of experts and leaders across a range of disciplines, guiding the transformation of mental health and substance use health systems.
Stepped Care Solutions (SCS) is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization, and the creators of Stepped Care 2.0 (SC2.0©) – an innovative and transformative model that leverages collaborative efforts and technology to transform mental health and substance use health systems for better access and outcomes. SCS exists to help organizations and communities reframe, rethink, and redesign the delivery of mental health care services.
For governments, businesses, post-secondary institutions, and community health organizations, Stepped Care Solutions works as a partner in designing and implementing an innovative, flexible approach to mental health care. Through the exchange of knowledge and a closely held commitment to co-design principles, SCS provides the resources and training that allows its clients to provide unparalleled, inclusive mental health care.
Our team uses their leading clinical and practical health care expertise to support the co-design of a range of innovative support and care models, including digital technology. By removing barriers experienced by many care seekers, and by organizing a wide range of therapeutic resources along a continuum, our approach maximizes choice and access to relevant options.
OUR VISION
Wellbeing Everywhere

OUR MISSION
To lead a global transformation of mental health and substance use health care systems where mental health is universally accepted as part of health and wellbeing, and everyone has open access to stigma free, culturally appropriate resources, tools and supports that elevate their quality of life
We are guided in every facet of our work by our values and principles. Rooted in concepts of social justice, autonomy, open access, co-design and recovery-oriented practices, they guide the work we do, the systems we co-create and the ways in which we interact with each other, our implementing partners and the world.

At Stepped Care Solutions, we uphold our values to address your challenges: Mission First—driving actions that align with a vision of wellbeing everywhere; Better Together—collaborating with you to harness our collective strengths and diverse perspectives for meaningful outcomes; and Context Matters—ensuring our solutions are informed by the wider landscape of mental health and substance use in our communities.
Synergy – Our Beyond DEI approach
Stepped Care Solutions’ approach to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice is rooted in the concept of synergy. It recognizes the strength of diverse perspectives—across race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, abilities, and more—and leverages this diversity to dismantle systems of oppression like colonialism, racism, and sexism. Synergy guides us in co-creating inclusive, restorative systems that support sustainable, holistic change. It serves as the foundation for the systems we build, the solutions we develop, and the partnerships we foster, ensuring that our work promotes meaningful collaboration and lasting impact.
Guided by Our Principles
We are a mission-driven organization, guided in every facet of our work by our principles. Rooted in concepts of social justice, autonomy, open access, co-design and recovery-oriented practices, our principles guide the work we do, the systems we co-create and the ways in which we interact with each other, our implementing partners and the world.
- Social justice drives effective care system transformation and is an intervention in itself.
- Multiple and diverse care options are required as one approach will not work for everyone.
- All individuals and communities have strength and capacity.
- People engage with what they are ready to do. A gold standard intervention is that which best fits the service user at any given time.
- Professionals do not carry all the wisdom. People often know what is best for them.
- Mental health literacy is required for people to make informed decisions.
- An effective care system ensures people have access to care when and where it is needed.
- The whole is greater than the sum of the parts: The strength of the system relies on multilevel collaboration.
- Minimal interventions can produce powerful results.
- There is no ideal solution. Trial-and-error leads to growth and change.
